This time of year, a common error that occurs within SAP Business One is “Date deviates from permissible range”. This error usually occurs on A/R and A/P marketing documents and journal entries. The reason this occurs results from the due date on the document in a posting period being locked. By default, a posting period’s due date is set to cover January 1 – December 31 of a calendar year. If you have clients that have 60-90 day payment terms, you may be dealing with this issue as early as October.
A way to avoid this from happening is to make sure your posting periods are set to have due dates extended into the following year. You can do this by navigating to Main Menu – Administration – System Initialization- Posting Periods.
As you can see here, the due dates for October, November and December are 12/31/2014. To change the due date setting, click on the drill-down arrow for the period you want to edit.
It is recommended that you set your due date to the end of March of the following year, which allows for due dates of 90 days or more. Once you have done this, you should be able to add documents.
